Position Purpose: The Licensed B1 Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with maintenance, inspection, and legislative standards as specified by EASA and the Quality and Airworthiness Manager.
Job Description
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Acting as an inspector in support of a specific aircraft, line or base maintenance input in accordance with MOE Part 146, as revised.
2. Perform the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of a Licensed Mechanical Senior Inspector, when requested by a Service Team Manager.
3. When requested by a Maintenance Team Leader or Service Team Manager, manage the manpower resources, consisting of licensed mechanical and avionics inspectors and fitters, assigned to a specific aircraft line or base maintenance input.
4. Certifying those tasks that they have been trained on and authorised to perform. Inspect and certify, at both Luton main base and other locations worldwide. Carrying out any other maintenance tasks, requested by the Maintenance Team Leader. For base maintenance, this can include Category ‘C’ Certification for those qualified in accordance with MOE Part 34, as revised.
5. Promoting and ensuring that aircraft line or base maintenance commitments are fulfilled within the assigned time scale. In the event of a delay, inform the Maintenance Team Leader and Service Team Manager as soon as possible.
6. Ensuring that all aircraft maintenance documentation relevant to the work performed or supervised is completed fully, including all task stage requirements before the end of each shift or reassignment to another work task during the same shift.
Additional Functions:
1. Understanding and sharing the strategic position of the department in relation to Product Support.
2. Advising the STM of any difficulties or shortcomings experienced through performing departmental duties.
3. Awareness and understanding of departmental measures in place for monitoring department goals, product delivery, and quality.
4. Maintaining personal & departmental husbandry to ensure continued department success.
5. Ensuring handovers are carried out as required to ensure workflow.
6. Attending Stand-up Board meetings as required to roll out performance communications and discussions.
7. Such other duties as may be delegated by the STM or Department Manager.
8. Promoting and ensuring that the quality of workmanship in the final product meets standards acceptable to the EASA and the UK CAA, including ensuring the correct and adequate standards of cleanliness and tidiness for the work in hand.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
1. Extensive combination of line & base maintenance experience.
2. Evidence of aircraft inspection and certification experience gained.
3. Experience within the corporate industry is an advantage.
4. Good working knowledge of Aviation Legislation.
5. Good verbal and written communication skills.
6. Good practical computer user skills.
7. Flexible approach to working patterns.
8. Able to demonstrate a well-organized approach to daily job tasks.
