An exciting opportunity for a band 5 nurse to join a dynamic, motivated team of renal nurses who deliver a high standard of specialist outpatient care.
You will be working in a friendly and supportive environment providing comprehensive care and support to dialysis dependent patients. We currently have 24 stations running 07:00 - midnight Monday - Saturdays providing approximately 396 dialysis treatments a week. We also have haemodialysis units at Warrington, St Helens and Halton hospital and there may be occasions when you will be asked to support at one of these clinics.
Student nurses in the UK awaiting NMC PIN will be considered.
All other applicants must have a current NMC PIN number included in the application.
Applications without a full NMC PIN will not be considered.
Main duties of the job
1. Set up dialysis machine according to patient prescription
2. Assess patients before dialysis
3. Calculate and set dialysis prescription on the dialysis machine
4. Use ANTT technique as per Trust protocol
5. Access vascular access and commence dialysis treatment
6. Deliver prescribed IV medication via dialysis machine
7. Monitor patients during treatment
8. Troubleshoot any alarms during treatment
9. Discontinue and disconnect patient at end of dialysis
10. Document treatment on CyberREN and other Trust systems
11. Clean dialysis area as per Trust protocol
12. Collect monthly blood samples
13. Check and report results of monthly blood samples
14. Work with members of the MDT
15. Audit patient outcomes monthly and discuss with patient and MDT

Job description
The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse. Following successful completion of foundation gateway will be required to take charge of ward/department for a span of duty.
