We are looking for a Principal Enterprise Solutions Architect to work alongside business sponsors, product owners and engineering teams to be responsible for leading, shaping, and delivering technology solutions across multiple platforms, translating the strategic vision of our organisation.

You will be accountable for:
* Leading the solution architecture team to deliver the appropriate technology solutions in a variety of technology areas including complex solutions, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Investigating business issues and technology problems and providing innovative solutions.
* Taking full responsibility for the balance between functional, service quality and systems management requirements within a significant area of the organisation.
* Establishing policy and strategy for the selection of solution architecture components, and co-ordinates design activities, promoting the discipline to ensure consistency.
* Directing the creation and review of an enterprise capability strategy to support the strategic requirements of the business. Identifies the business benefits of alternative strategies.
* Directing development of enterprise-wide architecture and ensures compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices.
* Taking responsibility for a significant architecture consultancy practice, including practice development, proposals to internal or external clients over a wide range of topics.
* Championing the importance and value of systems design principles and the selection of appropriate systems design lifecycle models; whether plan-driven or more iterative/agile.
* Contributing to assuring solution designs within the architecture community, supporting peers, ensuring these are correctly governed for adherence to IT Strategy, Standards, Policies and Practices.
* Building long-term, strategic relationships with senior stakeholders (internal and external) facilitating open relationships between them.
* Allocating responsibilities and/or packages of work in solution architecture team, delegating as appropriate.
* Proactively working to ensure effective working relationships within the team and with those whom the team interacts with.
* Implementing resource plans, including conducting recruitment interviews.
To be successful in this role you will require the following:
* 7+ years’ experience of working in a Solutions / Technical Architecture capacity delivering end-end solutions across all phases of the project lifecycle for a medium or large organisation.
* Experience of developing enterprise-wide architectures within an Enterprise Architecture Framework, e.g. TOGAF.
* Knowledge of systems integration standards including ESB, SOA, JSON, XML, Micro Services, APIs and messaging solutions.
* Knowledge & experience of testing for non-functional requirements.
* Knowledge of build, deployment, change and release processes and automation.
* Experience of web technologies, enterprise software platforms and database driven applications such as Java EE/ Oracle.
* Experience of designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems on AWS or similar cloud-based technology.
* Line management experience with the ability to provide coaching and mentoring where necessary to a small team of Solution Architects.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels to both technical and non-technical audiences.
* Ability to develop architecture policy, standards and guidelines. Establishes analytics techniques & capabilities to enable the business to generate insights, create value and drive decision-making.
* Familiarity with a variety of Enterprise Architecture (EA) tools and techniques, such as data modelling, structured analysis & design, use cases, Object Oriented analysis & design.
* Experience of analysis in an agile team to describe requirements in terms of Themes, Epics, User Stories & acceptance criteria. An understanding of terms such as backlog, burndown, & velocity.
* AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer or SysOps Associate would be advantageous.
* ITIL Foundation would be advantageous.
