About the role In your role as Investment Product Associate you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to join the Investment Product Management (IPM) Team with a focus on governance and oversight. The IPM Team provides the “voice of the client” within USSIM (the wholly-owned investment manager and advisor of USS, the pension trustee company). The IPM Team is a central team responsible for the oversight and governance of our investment mandates and execution. The IPM team sit in the first line but are separate from portfolio management and execution activities. The scope of the role is broad, working closely with the investment desks, Financial Risk team, Bloomberg team, Compliance team and the Operations team. What you will be doing A key part of the role is to work with the teams across USSIM to help ensure there is appropriate balance between investment guidelines and oversight for the investment mandates, and the monitoring controls in place are well designed and appropriate. This includes: Work with a virtual team across investment desks, compliance, investment operations, and legal to design appropriate mandate guidelines and ensure monitoring controls (including Bloomberg coding) are appropriate Oversee daily monitoring of Bloomberg rules and work with other members of the IPM, Financial Risk and Bloomberg teams on any issues raised against controls (including Bloomberg coding) relating to mandate guidelines as well as assist with investigation and resolution of incidents raised Drive continuous improvement and enhancement of policies and procedures, and robust governance processes Monitor and support USSIM processes in relation to monitoring and oversight and respond to issues Escalate issues as required to IPM management Work with other members of the IPM team to understand future developments and requirements across the business Take a proactive view to the work that is performed, identifying and implementing improvements that increase efficiency within the team Support to Managers & Mandates Committee to help ensure committee effectiveness About you We know that sometimes people can be put off applying for a job if they don't tick every box, if you're excited about working for us and have most of the skills or experience we're looking for, then please apply, regardless of whether you meet all the requirements outlined in this profile.
