Responsibilities of the Housekeeping Assistant role: Perform cleaning duties using work schedules to promote and maintain a clean Hospital environment for staff and patients. Ensure all ward areas, theatres, clinical, public areas, and staff working areas are kept clean and tidy by damp dusting, dust control mopping, suction cleaning, and damp mopping. Clean specialist equipment following agreed cleaning procedures. Complete periodic cleaning as directed, including carpet shampooing and scrubbing and sealing of floors. Use the Hospital procedure and follow infection control policy to remove waste and material for recycling to authorised waste collection points. Complete deep cleans to remove infections following the agreed infection control policy. Follow all Health and Safety, COSHH, and Infection Control policies, observing personnel duty of care in relation to equipment, procedures, and resources. Work as part of a team and communicate in a polite, courteous, and positive manner. Carry out specialist cleaning requirements in all new and refurbished areas, prior to areas becoming operational. Carry out cleaning on existing and new hard and soft floor covering when required. Report any mechanical defects, pest sightings, or building environmental faults immediately. Report any accidents or potential hazards immediately. Be responsible for cleaning equipment used, keeping it clean, using it as instructed, and reporting any faults. Be trained to use floor scrubbing, polishing, and steaming equipment to maintain and clean areas. Wash by hand or by machine the crockery, cutlery, and heated trolley used in the service of food to the patients (only at Butterworth Centre). Demonstrate diligence whilst on duty and report any concerns to your manager. Be responsible for the safe and secure handling of keys and door codes to departments, wards, and clinics.
