Summary of Role
Our global ESG Advisory and Reporting team specialises in providing ESG & sustainability strategy and reporting consulting services including materiality assessments, strategy development, data collection and management, reporting and training. Over the past two years the team has seen a significant increase in demand for support with mandatory disclosures (SFDR, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, TCFD), regulatory advisory and reporting services.
To sustain the growth in activity in our service area from global clients, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior/Principal Consultant to meet our clients’ needs in this exciting area of ESG advisory and reporting. The role would involve managing some of Anthesis’s largest financial services and corporate clients, including private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
In this role, you would have a unique viewpoint across all service lines. You would receive exposure to all of the unique services that Anthesis offers such as circular revenue models, human rights & social impact, Net Zero strategy, water stewardship, ESG program design and implementation, and carbon markets. The role requires collaborative coordination, diligence and the willingness to work across global time zones with Anthesis colleagues working around the world.
This role will be based in one of Anthesis’s main European offices – London, Rome, Milan, Munich, Frankfurt, Lille, Barcelona or Madrid.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities fall into three major areas:
New Business Development – 30-40% of time
* Maturity and Diagnostic Analysis – helping to organise and run ESG diagnostic and maturity exercises to rate the maturity of portfolio companies and identify new sustainable performance opportunities.
* Business Development Initiatives – supporting consultant SMEs to identify new business development initiatives that can be pitched to private equity clients, including helping to organise webinars, training sessions and newsletters.
* Meeting Preparation – supporting consultants with meeting research and preparation in order to best prepare them to engage with the client and present our unique range of sustainability solutions to senior decision makers.
Proposal & RFP Support – 30-40% of time
* Proposal / Bid Writing & Presentation – supporting consultants with proposal writing, coordination, and design. This will include discussing, framing, designing, pricing and presenting project proposals (with the guidance and support of colleagues). In many cases, the proposals require coordination spanning multiple consultant teams.
* Thought Leadership & Marketing – working with Marketing and consultant SMEs to develop credential and case study material for proposals as well as brand-building through the creation of IP and marketing materials.
Inbound-Lead Qualification – 10-20% of time
* Inbound Management – qualifying inbound leads and prospecting potential new business from portfolio companies and private equity clients directly. · Internal Opportunity Management – maintain data on leads, tracking business development activity, including within our CRM.
* Business Development Support - collaborating with consultants throughout the BD process via notetaking, coordination, scheduling, and proposal support.
Key Requirements, Skills Knowledge & Expertise
Key Requirements
The ideal applicant will have 4-7+ years’ experience in sustainability or consulting:
* A degree/relevant qualification in a related field (finance, sustainability, environmental management, geography etc.) or equivalent practical experience reflective of the role being applied for.
* Experience in transactions and ESG due diligence.
* Knowledge and understanding of sustainability/ESG issues and related reporting trends, drivers, and frameworks with the ability to identify and articulate opportunities to improve ESG disclosure and performance.
* Familiarity with existing and pending ESG disclosure requirements, including CSRD, SFDR, ISSB, SEC, California Climate Disclosure Rules.
* Familiarity with CRM tools such as NetSuite, HubSpot, or Microsoft Dynamics preferred but not essential.
* Good working familiarity with MS Office Suite is required, with high levels of numeracy and good Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.
* Fluent English speaker with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in another Western European foreign language (French, German, Italian, Spanish) is preferred.· Ability to travel to London and across Western Europe.
