An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager within a precision engineering company in Cumbria. Reporting to the Site Lead your role shall be a wide and varied one, though the key focus shall be on ensuring that the plant operates as efficiently and effectively as possible. Not only will you be responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing/production activities, but also the broader operational management of the plant. You shall make sure robust engineering maintenance programs are in place, that the facilities management arm of the business is fit for purpose, that adequate HSE processes are in place, that an adequate business continuity plan is in place and that the business has processes in place to cope with expansion. You will be expected to take full P&L responsibility for the business, controlling and managing all associated costs. It is expected that you shall be an experienced manufacturing operations professional, with experience working in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment, in particular, small to medium batch products is preferred. A working knowledge of tool-making would be desirable. You will have had previous demonstrable experience of project management, of inter-departmental liaison, have an excellent grasp of a modern engineering department and associated maintenance principles, be well versed in Lean principles and have first-class communication skills.
