This is an exciting opportunity for a Locum Consultant Cardiologist to join the Cardiology department at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals on a 5 PA part time, 6 month fixed term contract.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic candidate to support the department in delivering against key national and organisational objectives.
An applicant with subspecialty interest in either Interventional Cardiology or Arrhythmia is desirable, but not essential.

Working for our organisation
St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
This post will be to cover the St Helier hospital site primarily.

Person specification
Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
1. Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
2. Entry on to the Specialist Register in Cardiovascular Medicine or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT
3. Appropriate higher medical qualification i.e. MRCP or equivalent
Desirable criteria
4. MD or equivalent higher degree or evidence or relevant research
5. Extensive experience in either Interventional Cardiology techniques, or Arrhythmia management
Teaching & Research Experience
Essential criteria
6. Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
7. Ability to teach clinical skills
8. Ability to contribute to change management
9. Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems
10. Ability to critically review research
Desirable criteria
11. Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates/postgraduates
12. Experience of supervising junior doctors
13. Experience of teaching lay groups and other staff groups
14. Ability to supervise postgraduate research
Clinical, Management and Administrative Experience
Essential criteria
15. High standard of clinical skill and expertise in General Medicine
16. Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the in-reach rota for General Cardiology
17. Audit/Research experience
18. Has attended a recognised management training event or will have such training on completion of CCT/CESR
19. Supervision of post-graduate trainees
20. Excellent time management skills
21. Experience and understanding of Clinical Governance
22. Ability to organise inpatient and outpatient waiting lists
Desirable criteria
23. Familiarity with issues of service organisation and development
