Quality Control Lead
The role of the Quality Control Lead is to ensure that all products meet the company's stringent quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout the manufacturing process. This includes challenging and addressing any deviations from Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. The Quality Control Lead is responsible for overseeing quality control procedures, maintaining adherence to food safety regulations, and driving continuous improvements to optimize production efficiency and product quality. It is absolutely essential to engage the team immediately when deficiencies are spotted and to flag them up to management. Compliance with Health & Safety policies is also a critical part of the role.
2. Principal Accountabilities and Activities:
1. Manage the quality control to ensure all inspections, checks, and tests are completed in line with company standards.
2. Monitor and Maintain Product Quality: Oversee and conduct quality inspections at all stages of production, ensuring products meet company specifications and regulatory requirements.
3. Challenge Deviations from GMP: Proactively identify, challenge, and escalate any deviations from GMP standards, working with cross-functional teams to resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
4. Ensure Compliance with Standards: Guarantee that all quality and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, and BRC) are met, and take immediate action when non-compliance is identified.
5. Conduct Internal Audits: Perform regular internal audits to ensure compliance with quality standards, GMP, and food safety regulations.
6. Data Analysis and Reporting: Review and analyze quality control data, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Report findings and recommend corrective actions to management.
7. Collaborate with Production Teams: Work closely with production staff to resolve quality concerns in real time, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and documented.
8. Drive Continuous Improvement: Initiate and lead quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality, reducing waste, and minimizing defects.
9. Ensure Proper Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality control checks, deviations, corrective actions, and any GMP non-compliance events.
10. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all quality control activities comply with health and safety guidelines, and report any accidents, near misses, or hazards promptly.
11. Train and Develop Staff: Provide training and guidance to quality control team members to ensure they are proficient in current quality standards and procedures, including GMP and food safety regulations.
12. Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into quality issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
3. Role Requirements:
1. Previous experience in a quality control role, preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing or food production environment.
2. Strong leadership experience, with the ability to challenge non-conformance and ensure adherence to strict quality standards.
3. Expertise in quality management systems, GMP, and food safety regulations.
4. Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Will Include:
1. Health & Safety and Food Safety Legislation: In-depth knowledge of health and safety and food safety legislation.
2. GMP Expertise: Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and the ability to challenge deviations from these standards.
3. Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a quality control team.
4. Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify quality issues and resolve them effectively.
5. Problem-Solving Skills: Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
6. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for working with production and management teams to address quality issues and drive improvement.
7. Continuous Improvement Focus: A proactive approach to continuous improvement in quality control processes and procedures.
