Job summary
The post will provide support to the Estates management team, by promoting a safe, secure and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
The postholder must be fully committed to ensuring a professional, customer orientated and value for money service to the college community.
Responsibilities involve the protection of persons, property and provision of crime.
Responsibilities
· To complete routine patrols of the assigned campus to ensure the maintenance of good order in the premises, and to monitor behaviour on site. This includes internal and external patrols.
· To respond and assist with different types of emergencies; first aid, fire alarms, bomb alerts, floods, gas leaks.
· To respond to reports of intruders on site and other crime related incidents. To protect the college property against loss, theft and damage.
· To undertake first aid training and be a first aider.
· To be familiar with business requirements in relation to conduct and expected behaviour on site.
· To be responsive to the personal radio system and to react responsibly and efficiently to calls for assistance.
· To check student and staff ID cards to prevent unauthorised persons entering the buildings.
· To deal with disruptive, aggressive and challenging behaviour and if necessary, remove offender/s from the premises, acting in a professional manner at all times.
· To remove unauthorised persons from the premises in a tactful and non-confrontational manner.
· To be alert and efficient at all times and promote crime prevention.
· Assist the Estates team in their duties; emergency cleaning, delivery of parcels, estates requests, moving furniture and equipment.
· Spot litter pick in buildings/grounds/areas whilst on patrol and challenge persons on site dropping litter in a professional manner.
· To report any damage or defects found on any site either internally or externally on the online request system.
· To provide cover at any of the building (in the relevant region) as required by the Estates & Facilities Manager or Estates & Facilities Co-ordinator. To provide cover for any events or open days as requested by the Estates & Facilities Manager.
· To undertake any other associated duties as appropriate from time to time assigned by the Estates & Facilities Manager or Estates & Facilities Co-ordinator.
