The Service Director reports directly to the UK Managing Director and will lead and oversee all aspects of our UK traffic signal maintenance (TSM) operations. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, improving efficiency, and ensuring optimal service performance across a large, geographically dispersed team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing service operations with a focus on technology-driven optimisation, workforce productivity, and fleet management.
This individual will have full P&L responsibility and will be accountable for meeting financial targets, including revenue, orders, and margin. Supported by a financial partner for analytics, the Service Director will implement strategic initiatives to boost productivity, enhance service delivery, and establish a lean, high-performance operating environment.
What will you be doing?
Leadership & Strategy
* Key member of the Yunex UK management team, leading a team of over 500 and executing a strategy aligned with long-term goals to drive operational excellence and a high-performing, lean culture.
Financial Management
* Oversee full P&L responsibilities, ensuring financial targets for orders, revenue, and margins are met, while optimizing resources through budget management and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
Operational Excellence
* Deliver safe, reliable maintenance and services across the UK, building strong customer relationships and maintaining a skilled workforce trained in safety and technological advancements. Drive cost efficiency with lean practices and manage fleet and depot performance for operational consistency.
* Oversee contracts with authorities and developers, ensuring compliance and cultivating long-term customer partnerships and new business opportunities.
* Balance workforce needs, maximize productivity, and foster engagement through planning, coaching, and development within a matrix structure.
* Employ IoT, AI diagnostics, and real-time data to enhance automation, scheduling, work orders, and fleet management, continually improving service delivery and performance.
Health & Safety
* Enforce health and safety standards, regularly reviewing protocols to reduce risks and ensure a safe work environment.
Who you are:
* Experienced leader in large-scale service or maintenance operations for both local authority and private clients, with a strong background in managing dispersed teams, service fleets, and full P&L responsibilities.
* Skilled in driving operational efficiency through technology, lean methodologies, and strategic financial planning, consistently achieving budget and performance targets.
* An inspiring and effective communicator, able to coach high-performance teams, influence stakeholders, and collaborate within matrix organizations.
* Analytical, decisive, and organized, with a proven ability to multitask and deliver timely results.
* Flexible and prepared to travel as needed.
