Job Purpose
To deliver exceptional, compassionate service throughout the crematorium and cremation process. As the first point of contact for visitors, you will manage the chapel, warmly welcome funeral directors and mourners, and ensure that all service requirements are met with professionalism and care. You will support the Superintendent in providing dignified cremation services and assist crematorium staff with a variety of responsibilities as detailed below.
Primary Responsibilities
* Deliver every service with the utmost care and attention, treating each one as the most important of the day.
* Greet and assist all visitors, ensuring every aspect of their service is handled with respect and precision.
* Perform cremations in accordance with company policies and industry regulations, upholding the highest standards of dignity and care.
* Coordinate with funeral directors, officiants, families, musicians, and other service providers to ensure services align with the family’s wishes.
* Oversee and manage chapel services, directing attendees, supporting funeral directors, and facilitating smooth proceedings.
* Manage music, tributes, webcasts, and other media to ensure flawless delivery during services.
Additional Duties
* Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of all crematorium facilities, including the chapel, crematory, flower areas, and public spaces.
* Ensure public areas are sanitised and presentable between services, including restrooms and waiting areas.
* Assist in the collection, identification, storage, and dignified final handling of cremated remains, adhering to company policies.
* Perform administrative tasks, respond to public enquiries, and liaise with funeral professionals as needed.
* Act as a pallbearer during services when required.
* Maintain floral displays, allocate areas for floral tributes, and manage the disposal of flowers post-service.
* Support general office and grounds maintenance duties during peak times or staff absences.
* Assist with car park organisation during busy services to ensure smooth traffic flow and visitor convenience.
Requirements
* Demonstrate high levels of empathy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
* Present a smart and professional appearance at all times.
* Physical ability to carry coffins as part of a 3-5 person team.
* Willingness to perform both indoor and outdoor duties as part of daily operations.
* Strong multitasking abilities and adaptability to switch between roles as required.
* Fully proficient in IT and Microsoft Office.
* Experienced using bookkeeping software is desirable, e.g. Quickbooks.
