Band 5 Registered Child Nurse - Paediatric Emergency Department
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
The Paediatric Emergency Department (ED) at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital is in a busy district general hospital seeing over 27,500 children per year. In July 2023, we moved into a newly developed Paediatric ED that has a dedicated Paediatric HDU room & CAMHS room within the department.
We are looking to welcome Registered Children Nurses to our Paediatric ED team. The service offers a dedicated Paediatric ED located adjacent to our Adult ED. Our successful applicants will benefit from internal and external courses and the support of our senior team and practice development nurses. Courses include paediatric life support courses, ED focused training for minors skills, and trauma training.
Don't worry if you don't have any emergency care experience as we will support you to become confident in the assessment, recognition, and management of the sick child within the emergency setting. The Luton & Dunstable Hospital is proud to have developed the Children's Assessment Knowledge Examination Skills (CAKES) course which covers the assessment, knowledge, and skills of sick children. We have a great record of nurse development and progression with recent internal promotions and newly qualified preceptorship programmes.
