Position Job Title: Shift Mechanical Technician

To ensure that all machinery is effectively maintained and repaired in the event of an unscheduled breakdown. Also, to carry out any installation work as required.
* Work in all areas on breakdown of machinery as requested by Mechanical Team Lead or Shift Operations Manager.
* Ensure breakdowns are dealt with in a timely manner
* Carry out planned maintenance as per the planned maintenance schedule
* Ensure administrative data such as logbooks, stores requisitions or information requested by Mechanical Team Lead are completed
* Work with Engineers / Contractors on projects as requested.
* Identify and recommend areas for improvement
* Assist with the installation of new equipment as required
* Assist with identifying obsolete parts
* Share expertise and knowledge with other team members as requested by Mechanical Team Lead
* Assist with ensuring safety and accident statistics within the department remain at an acceptable level – target zero
* Ensure ‘Temporary fixes’ on machinery are highlighted to appropriate personnel
* Ensure project work is completed as per the project plan
Qualifications/Requirements
* 12 hour shift pattern 7 days / week
* Time served craftsman, with minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience
* Multi-skilled Mechanical / Electrical (with Mechanical bias)
* Team orientated
* Flexible with the ability to change track according to differing priorities
* Strong understanding of production processes and equipment (technical background)
* Good communication skills with ability to converse professionally with people at all levels of the business
* Good general level of education preferably to HNC/HND level and above
* Understanding of plant utility equipment and machinery.
* Understanding of production, quality, and hygiene systems
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
* Strong IT skills with focus on Microsoft office applications
* Willing to attend relevant training courses required for role.
