EFL Non-Residential Teacher Job Description

DATES: Possibility of extension in some centres (starting in June and/or finishing mid-August)
4 weeks: July 2nd to July 31st 2025
2 weeks only in some centres: Dover and Dulwich: July 8th to August 3rd 2025
MLA (Move Language Ahead) is an industry leader in providing safe, educational, and cultural holidays to students from around the world. Each year thousands of students travel with MLA as part of our short-term English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programmes.
POSITION OVERVIEW
* Responsible for the planning and delivery of the academic program of EFL students
* Represent MLA values
* Reports to Director of Studies/Assistant Director of Studies
* 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday)
* Residential employment available from late June – mid-August (Check dates above)
Teachers will deliver high-quality and communicative EFL Task Based lessons as part of a teaching team. Lessons involve engaging students through a variety of activities to help them develop their skills and provide an environment that increases the use of the English language in lessons.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
* Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK, and a valid DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland).
* Proven suitability to work with students under 18: at least 2 references.
* CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL qualification, or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages (or equivalent Ofqual recognised standards)
* Experience of Teaching EFL Classes (including teaching practice)
Desirable
* DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL / MA TESOL completed or in progress
* EFL experience teaching teenagers
SCHEDULE
Non-Residential contracts are based on a minimum of 10 up to 36 working hours over a 7-day session including at least one full day off per week.
KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Teaching
* Prepare your lessons with the aid of pre-made lesson plans and adapt them to your class composition
* Teach EFL lessons at a range of levels indicated by the DoS
* Inspire and motivate students to improve their learning skills
* Provide a variety of teaching activities appropriate to student learning needs
Administrative
* Complete attendance registers promptly and inform the DoS of any absent students.
* Mark and record progress marks as instructed in the induction and demonstrated in the teacher’s handbook
Safeguarding & Welfare
* Provide safety and welfare assistance to students.
* Be vigilant for possible welfare problems of students
* Comply with all health and safety procedures at MLA
COMPENSATION
Non-Residential staff can earn up to GBP 673 per week (plus 12.07% holiday pay).
