Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and innovative nurse to join the Health Protection Team at Oldham Borough Council. The post holder will be responsible for many aspects of health protection in the council, including: leading on infection prevention and control in a variety of settings; leading on education workshops; supporting the Health Care Associated Infections/Antimicrobial Resistance strategy; supporting complex situations including where communicable infection is present in closed/vulnerable settings; non-communicable environment hazards; immunisation and supporting the council’s emergency planning role.
Key Responsibilities
* To deputise and in the absence of the Lead Health Protection Nurse, lead on the Implementation of Infection Control Components in the revised Health and Social Care Act (2012)
* To lead on outbreaks of infection reported across Oldham’s adult social care systems and respond to all settings, including education
* To lead on the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Annual Audit programme in a variety of settings
* To lead on quality performance monitoring, supporting the HCAI/AMR agenda
* To develop and deliver IPC Workshops and Health Protection education to a variety of organisations, including Adult Social Care and Primary Care.
Key Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years post registration nursing experience (Part 1 NMC registered).
* Have or be willing to undertake a recognised Infection Prevention & Control qualification.
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
* Experience of undertaking clinical audit.
* Teaching and presentation delivery skills
* Nursing knowledge of community infection control and communicable disease and infection control in health care and social care settings
* Experience of working autonomously, managing own time and priorities whilst achieving tight deadlines in projects and tasks
* Experience of working in a health and community setting, working closely with clinical colleagues and health care providers
