Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Head of Sales to lead our sales team and drive significant growth. In this senior role, you will be responsible for shaping our sales strategy, building and managing a high-performing team, and driving sales in the expanding whisky cask ownership market. A key part of your role will be to build and manage a team of Portfolio Managers who will provide bespoke cask ownership solutions to our clients, guiding them through the entire cask ownership lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have proven sales leadership experience, a passion for whisky, and a deep commitment to building and managing successful client portfolios. You will have the opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team, gaining exposure across the business, and helping drive our expansion both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement an effective sales strategy to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.
2. Build and lead a team of Portfolio Managers, ensuring they are equipped to manage and grow client portfolios throughout the cask ownership lifecycle.
3. Manage inbound leads, as well as your own database of prospects and existing clients.
4. Liaise with clients via email and phone to pitch and introduce our unique product: single cask whisky ownership.
5. Maintain and nurture relationships with existing clients, providing support, information, and guidance while recommending new cask opportunities and referral options.
6. Collaborate with marketing, design, and other departments to offer tailored bottling services to meet clients’ individual needs.
7. Host client trips to our unique Whisky tasting library in Edinburgh, our partner cask warehouse in Speyside, and off-site events in the UK and internationally.
8. Target key domestic and international markets, creating new business opportunities for whisky cask ownership.
9. Network with industry professionals and attend relevant events to build relationships and stay informed on market trends.
10. Provide strategic leadership in building and refining the sales pipeline and portfolio management process.
11. Stay informed on industry developments, market trends, and competitor activity to maintain our competitive edge.
12. Report on sales performance and key metrics to senior management.
Desired Skills:
1. Proven experience as a Head of Sales, Sales Director, or similar leadership role, preferably in luxury goods or a related field.
2. Strong track record of success in driving sales, developing sales strategies, and leading teams.
3. Experience building and managing a team of sales professionals or Portfolio Managers.
4. Deep understanding of the whisky industry, particularly in single cask whisky ownership.
5. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
6. Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to push boundaries and achieve success.
7. Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, high-net-worth individuals, and industry professionals.
8. A passion for whisky and an understanding of whisky cask ownership (preferred, but not essential).
9. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
10. Experience working with CRM systems and other sales tools.
11. Full driving license (preferably).
