Job description:
As a Mechanical Engineer working in the waste water industry sector you would be expected to carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance on water industry assets. You will be working as part of a highly skilled and experienced mobile team and you will be provided with a van and tools to ensure you are able to provide a valuable service to the water industry.
As a Mechanical Engineer in the water industry, you would be expected to:
* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on water industry equipment.
* Respond to breakdowns as per business requirements and use your experience to repair/replace the defective equipment. This would include equipment such as but not limited to Motors, Gearboxes, Screens, Pumps, Chemical Dosing Systems, Valves, and Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems.
* Work closely with operations to ensure that equipment is running efficiently. Identify any potential issues with equipment and proactively plan in maintenance before asset failure occurs.
* Attend jobs as directed by your line manager to fault find, investigate, and repair/replace.
* Manufacture parts and equipment to reduce the downtime of assets.
* Ensure that all work by yourself and the team that you are working with is carried out safely and to industry best practice.
What we are looking for:
Essentials:
* Time served apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications, e.g., City and Guilds, Diploma, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND.
* Full UK Driving License.
Desirables:
* Water Industry knowledge.
* C&G Confined Space Medium Risk
* Manual Handling
* Working at Heights
* Fire Safety
* Chemical Handling/COSH
* Knowledge of working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
* Have the ability to fault-find utilising a structured and analytical approach through to the repair of complex and specialist items of mechanical equipment.
