EQUANS are recruiting for a Site Manager to be based in Gateshead / Seaham. This is a full-time fixed term contract for 9 months, working 39 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, car allowance, bonus and benefits package.
General Overview
To manage a designated project on site and achieve the target contributions in accordance with the contract documents and programme; ensuring that the project is delivered safely on time, to a high standard of quality and with high levels of client/resident satisfaction. To understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy and ensure all employees reporting to you do the same and being responsible for ensuring that SHEQ requirements are upheld to the highest of standards at all times.
This role has a M&E bias.
* Project type: sustainability / degasification of leisure centre
* Location: Gateshead
* Scope: Circa 270kw ground mounted PV array and a Commercial Air Source heat Pump approx. 600kw
The ideal candidate will have experience in overseeing this type of installation.
Key Accountabilities
* To assist the Operations / Project Manager with pre-start details.
* To report to the Line Manager on the progress against the programme.
* To ensure full compliance with all Health & Safety aspects. Fully understand the company’s SHEQ policy/strategy.
* Produce target and/or recovery programmes (short term, etc.).
* Update productivity trackers including CPR.
* Maintenance of company required Health & Safety procedures/initiatives, including:
o Use of PPE
o Site Inductions
o Management of Method Statements/Risk Assessments
o Undertake a thorough review of all subcontractors RAMS to ensure they have identified all foreseeable risks and implemented suitable controls.
o Obtain all risk assessments from contractors.
o To obtain sub-contractors Health & Safety policies prior to their work commencement.
o Identify training needs.
o Maintain statutory registers, including accident reporting.
o Work Permits.
o Scaffold/Lifting equipment inspections.
o In-house audits/inspections.
o Site housekeeping.
* Adherence to the Company quality standards including:
o Management of defects.
o Fully understand the Construction Phase Plan Requirements, including its development.
o Compliance with specification:
+ Compliance with materials/workmanship schedules.
+ Subcontractor code of conduct.
+ Considerate Constructors Scheme.
* Coordination/Leadership of the site team, inclusive of:
o Assistant Managers
o Resident Liaison Officers
o Administrators
o Sub-Contractors
o Other site operatives
* Assist with the preparation of the Health and Safety file.
* Maintain and update Construction Phase Health & Safety plan as works proceed.
* Liaison with the client, consultants, contract administrator, head office etc.
* To be responsible for the opening and closing of the site facilities including ensuring alarms are armed and working.
* Management of site facilities; welfare, toilets, offices, compound area etc.
* Management of site housekeeping, discipline, behaviour etc.
* To be aware at all times of possible commercial opportunities.
* To assist in the management of project specific preliminaries.
* Ensure all actions relating to proper close out of projects are executed before transfer to Customer Care Team.
* Ensure all documentation required to achieve handovers are accurately and promptly issued.
* Regeneration, EPB & Sustainability present accurate and timely handover packs to the Admin Team for uploading.
* Co-ordinate the Sub-Contractors and set-up and deliver weekly supply chain meetings.
* Preparation/assistance with the site progress reports including CPR and productivity trackers.
* Safe storage and co-ordination of materials.
* Be responsible for your safety and others around you.
* Attend all mandatory courses related to your role.
* Comply with all the roles and responsibilities as set out within the SHEQ management system.
* To be responsible for the accurate/timely completion of site-based documentation.
* Attendance at project and company related meetings.
* To mentor and train Assistant Site Manager(s) and junior members of staff.
* To ensure, if applicable along with the Resident Liaison Officer, all relevant resident and public complaints are resolved efficiently.
* Any other reasonable management request.

* Previous Site management experience.
* Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation.
* Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
* Understanding of local government construction projects.
* Experience of Partnership arrangements.
