Job summary Woolpit Health Centre is seeking a general practice assistant (GPA) to join their team, on a full time basis for 37.5 hours per week, to fulfil this enhanced administrative role, with some basic clinical elements. The aim of the GPA role is to improve patient flow within practice hours, increasing the time efficiency of appointments, reducing waiting times and improving patient access, supporting the smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and basic clinical tasks, freeing up the clinician time to focus on the patient. Main duties of the job Sorting, prioritising and signposting incoming clinical correspondence to relevant team members. Filing blood tests. Signposting online patient requests to the most appropriate team. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments of patients. Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign (such as insurance forms, mortgage, and benefits agency forms etc.). Completing requests for safeguarding information to other agencies. Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies. Supporting with the planning and delivery of a variety of clinics. Demonstrating a personalised and patient-centred approach to care planning. Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.
