Meetinghouse Arts (MhA) is a vibrant, growing community arts organization dedicated to supporting local artists, fostering creative expression, and providing engaging arts programming. Located in downtown Freeport, Maine, Meetinghouse Arts serves as a hub for exhibitions, performances, and educational opportunities that enrich the cultural life of its community. Meetinghouse Arts is in a stage of growth and expansion and is seeking a Program Coordinator to support its development in this exciting and dynamic period.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Meetinghouse Arts’ mission by supporting programming, managing events, managing public communications and marketing efforts, collaborating and coordinating volunteers, and assisting the Executive Director with fundraising and development efforts. This position requires a passion for the arts and community arts access, a willingness to work in a varied and fast paced environment, and strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Events
1. Support program scheduling, ticket sales, and documentation (contracts, etc.) for performances, gallery shows, classes, and other events
2. Maintain systems (Eventbrite, Google calendar, etc.) to support programming
3. Assist occasionally with evening and weekend events
Marketing & Communication
1. Market and promote MhA programs and events, including social media presence, the development of a weekly newsletter, and annual program development
2. Maintain and upkeep of the MhA website, social media profiles, and web presence
3. Communicate with public stakeholders, including attendees, stakeholders, and artists and performers
Volunteer Coordination & Community Engagement
1. Maintain the volunteer database and support the identification of volunteers for committees
2. Engage and support organizational volunteers and volunteer led committees
Fund Development & Organizational Growth
1. Maintain the donor database, grants management calendar, and sponsorship records
2. Run reports and support the creation of development materials
3. Assist the Executive Director and Board of Directors in prioritizing organizational growth
Qualifications & Skills
1. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
2. Experience with marketing, public relations, and community outreach
3. Excellent technical skills, including familiarity with web design and development, social media account management, and graphic design
4. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
5. Passion for the arts and community engagement
6. College graduate preferred

Compensation & Schedule
1. 30-35 hours per week with some flexibility for evening and weekend work
2. $25-$28 per hour based on experience and education
3. Onsite office available in downtown Freeport. Flexibility to work from home.
4. Apple laptop and cell phone supplied.
5. Support dollars available for professional development
6. Free attendance to shows and exhibits
