Your new role
As the Agent – Highways, you will be responsible for managing supervisors and ensuring the successful delivery and oversight of teams working on kerbing, paving, drainage, and patching projects in the Norwich and Norfolk area, either through our company or sub-contractors. You will also provide guidance on highways management to ensure project objectives and targets are achieved.
In this role, you will support the management of on-site teams (both internal and external) to secure the best commercial outcomes for the project and effectively address any challenges from our clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Planning, scheduling, and executing the programme of works across the contract.
2. Meeting company and contractual KPIs and improving contract/scheme KPIs annually.
3. Managing change controls on sites diligently.
4. Ensuring zero accidents and environmental incidents (H&S).
5. Leading site teams to ensure career progression and competency.
6. Working with our Health, Safety & Wellbeing advisor to promote best practices.
7. Adhering to all Health and Safety standards and fostering innovations in health, safety, and wellbeing.
8. Ensuring training qualifications and competence requirements are met and monitored for all team members.
9. Managing compliance with CDM regulations (principal contractor responsibilities) across all works.
10. Implementing environmental processes and best practices across the contract.
11. Delivering Health & Safety briefings to teams.
You must be able to travel across the region of work. A vehicle is provided for this role, so you must hold a valid UK full manual car driving licence with no more than 6 points.
What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a similar role within the Surfacing or Highways industry, with knowledge of on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing leadership as needed.
Strong communication skills, capable of liaising with stakeholders at various seniority levels.
Proficiency in computer skills, including Excel and Word.
Certificate in Site Safety Management.
Supervisory experience in Surfacing/Highways Maintenance, particularly in surfacing works and construction.
Possession of a CSCS card.
SMSTS certificate.
Flexible approach to location and working patterns according to business needs.
