We are looking for an organised and self-motivated person to join our south area highways maintenance team. This is a great opportunity to consolidate your highway engineering and maintenance knowledge and experience through a busy and challenging role.
You will be an important member of the highways area office management team playing a pivotal role in our working arrangements with our contractors in the delivery of the service to support the county council’s vision and the achievement of corporate priorities.
You will:
Assist the area manager and the sector teams in collating, prioritising, and ordering the weekly capital and routine works orders to match agreed budget, resource, and organisational requirements.
Be responsible for co-ordinating the sector teams in the delivery of the highway maintenance activities and winter service so that works are ordered and implemented to agreed standards, procedures, specification, programme, legislation, time, and budget.
Assist the area teams with first line responses to highway matters, working to corporate standards, and deputising for the highway engineers as required.
Assist the area manager and the sector teams in collating, prioritising, and delivering capital scheme maintenance briefs to the required timescales.
Assist with budget monitoring and management.
Produce and maintain schedules for annual maintenance activities such as grass cutting and gully cleansing, and issue orders proactively.
Assist in the management of work carried out by partners and contractors.
Line manage up to 2 agency inspector drivers.
Assist the area manager as directed.
