Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Groundworker to join our team on upcoming projects. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of groundworks tasks, working as part of a team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Excavation and Trenching: Digging trenches, footings, and other excavations using hand tools and/or machinery (where appropriately trained and ticketed).
Concreting: Mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete for foundations, slabs, and other structures. This includes laying and levelling concrete.
Drainage: Installing and maintaining drainage systems, including pipes, gullies, and manholes.
Paving and Kerb Laying: Laying paving slabs, block paving, kerbs, and edgings to specified levels and patterns.
Reinstatement: Backfilling excavations and reinstating surfaces to the required finish.
Operating Machinery (if qualified): Safe and efficient operation of plant machinery such as mini-diggers, dumpers, and rollers (relevant tickets/licences required).
Manual Handling: Lifting, carrying, and moving materials safely and efficiently.
Working from Drawings: Interpreting basic site drawings and instructions.
Health and Safety: Adhering to all site health and safety regulations and procedures, including wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Teamwork: Working collaboratively with other members of the construction team.
Maintaining a Clean and Tidy Worksite: Ensuring the work area is kept clean, organised, and free from hazards.
Reporting: Reporting any issues, defects, or near misses to the site supervisor/foreman.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
CSCS Card: A valid CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is essential.
Experience: Proven experience as a Groundworker within the construction industry.
Physical Fitness: The role requires a good level of physical fitness and stamina due to the manual nature of the work.
Reliability and Punctuality: Excellent timekeeping and a reliable approach to work.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Communication Skills: Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Understanding of Health and Safety: A strong understanding of construction site health and safety practices.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
First Aid Certification: A valid First Aid at Work certificate.
Driving Licence: A full, clean UK driving licence (may be essential depending on the location/need to drive site vehicles).
Confined Space Training: Relevant training for working in confined spaces.
Other relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Groundworks).
