Are you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have a background in psychology and a strong understanding of behaviour and emotional well-being? We’re looking for a Behaviour and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Mentor in Bridgend to make a real difference in students' lives.
About the Role
A highly respected SEN school in Bridgend is seeking a Behaviour and ASD Mentor with a solid psychology background. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide one-to-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges and ASD, helping them develop emotional regulation skills and build confidence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Apply psychological approaches to promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
2. Mentor students with ASD and behavioural needs, both individually and in small groups.
3. Support pupils in managing behaviour through personalised strategies and coping techniques.
4. Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to implement tailored behaviour support plans.
5. Act as a positive role model, fostering resilience, self-esteem, and independence.
About You
1. Background in psychology, counselling, education, or a related field.
2. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or SEN setting.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
4. Empathetic, calm, and proactive approach to behaviour support.
5. Understanding of behaviour management techniques (training provided if needed).
6. Relevant experience in psychology, education, or mental health.
7. Passion for supporting children with ASD and behavioural needs.
8. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply through our agency).
9. Registered (or willing to register) with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
