An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring leader who is looking to experience the challenges of the Matron's role, or for a current Matron who would like to develop experience of a different specialty. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious nurse who is able to lead, motivate and inspire, and who is able to champion compassionate, high quality and dignified patient care, to join our surgical team.
The role requires excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to support and initiate change. Our successful candidate will be someone who is a highly engaged, visible leader who will set the tone for exceptional and high quality nursing care.
The quality of the Health Board's clinical care and the safety of its patients are fundamental to the Health Board's excellence. The Matron is expected to work autonomously and is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of evidence based, safe and effective nursing care, infection prevention, safeguarding and patient flow standards within their defined area of responsibility.
Main duties of the job
The role provides direct leadership to ensure that the ward managers are able to implement the nursing and quality strategy, person-centred approaches to care and to deliver a nursing service that prioritises the care needs of patients and their families to enable a positive experience. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of ward managers within their areas of responsibility in line with the Health Board's values and behaviour framework of caring for each other, working together and always improving. The Matron role is in place as a key post within the nursing line management structure.
The matron is responsible for defined clinical areas within a service group.
