Our client is an award-winning law firm and on their behalf, we are looking to recruit an experienced Civil Litigator with 3+ years PQE, who is able to assist the department in providing expert advice on maritime law and shipping matters. The successful applicant will have excellent research and analytical skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills. They will be passionate about the marine sector and servicing a wide portfolio of marine clients. Work is predominantly wet shipping and includes P&I and Defence work, Admiralty work including collisions, pollution and total losses, as well as some non-contentious work.
The Marine Department takes a forward-thinking approach to training, which has included obtaining sailing qualifications and attending training to become qualified commercial fishermen. The Department considers that the key to empowering staff is to give them tools to help them excel professionally.
The Department has clients and friends throughout the industry and considers it an important element of the business to regularly attend and support relevant Shows, such as the various Boat Shows, Seaworks and the Fishing Expos, as well as support British Marine at director and committee level. The suitable candidate must be outgoing and enjoy networking by representing the Department at events in the UK and abroad, as well as taking the time to regularly engage with clients building new and existing client relationships.
The Department is based in Plymouth, and remote working will be considered.
