The Physical Security Systems Risk Assessor is responsible for identifying, evaluating and mitigating risks related to the organisation's physical security systems, primarily focusing on CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, HVM, blast protection, ballistic protection and related technologies. This role requires an in-depth understanding of physical security principles, security system design and operational best practices. The assessor will conduct thorough on-site assessments, analyse vulnerabilities in system design and implementation, evaluate operational effectiveness, develop risk mitigation strategies and produce detailed reports with actionable recommendations utilising open source intelligence and relative crime statistics. The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and communication skills, a passion for risk management and physical security excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct Physical Security Systems Assessments:
o Perform on-site assessments of facilities to evaluate the need and status of current potential design, implementation and operational effectiveness of physical security systems.
o Evaluate the physical security system's ability to deter, detect, delay and respond to security incidents.
o Assess system integration and interoperability to ensure comprehensive security coverage.
o Review system documentation, including design specifications, installation records and maintenance logs.
2. Identify and Analyse Vulnerabilities:
o Identify weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the building, location, design, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of physical security systems.
o Analyse potential threats and attack vectors targeting physical security systems, including physical bypass, tampering, sabotage and insider threats.
o Evaluate the potential impact of system failures or breaches on the organisation's operations, assets and personnel safety.
o Document and prioritise identified risks based on their likelihood and potential impact.
3. Develop and recommend cost-effective solutions to mitigate identified risks, including but not limited to:
o System upgrades or replacements.
o Modifications to system configurations and settings.
o Enhancements to operational procedures and protocols.
o Improvements to physical security infrastructure.
o Integration of new or enhanced security technologies.
4. Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare comprehensive and detailed building risk assessment reports, outlining findings, vulnerabilities, risk levels and recommendations.
o Clearly articulate technical findings and their potential impact to both technical and non-technical audiences.
o Maintain accurate records of assessments, findings and mitigation efforts.
o Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management.
o Ensure data accuracy and integrity in support of the risk analyst team.
5. Compliance and Standards:
o Ensure all assessments and recommendations comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and best practices.
o Stay updated on the latest physical security threats, vulnerabilities and mitigation.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
o Work collaboratively with relative stakeholders to implement security improvements.
o Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to promote a culture of physical security awareness.
o Provide training on physical security best practices related to system operation and awareness of potential vulnerabilities.
