Main duties of the job
* We have a vacancy for a Senior Pharmacy Assistant within the pharmacy department.
* We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to fulfil this supporting role.
* You will be required to have experience dispensing in either a hospital or community pharmacy setting.
* This post will include working in the main dispensary, SACT dispensing, ward stock distribution area, goods receipt and rotational ward work alongside other members of the team.
* The successful candidate should have good computer skills; excellent communication skills; be able to work as part of a team and under their own initiative; work in an organised, timely and safe manner and have a willingness to learn and need to have a qualification NVQ 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) recognised by the GPhC.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To supervise and work closely with the pharmacy stores team to ensure accurate and efficient receipt of medicines.
* Carry out routine tasks including, stock top-ups, supply and distribution to wards and departments in accordance with policies and procedures under supervision of technicians and pharmacists.
* Undertake Pharmacy Assistant duties as required to meet the needs of the service.
* Undertake related filing.
* Assist technical and professional staff in undertaking audit and review of systems.
* Participate in training new assistants and students.

Qualifications
* NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services (or Equivalent) as recognized by the GPHC
