* Act as the primary point of contact for students seeking mental health support, including referrals to external professionals where appropriate.
* Collaborate with academic staff to implement reasonable adjustments for students with disabilities or mental health conditions.
* Develop and deliver high-quality workshops, webinars, and training sessions on mental health and wellbeing for students and staff.
* Develop and create informative resources and materials for both students and staff, focusing on mental health and wellbeing, to raise awareness, provide guidance, and promote a supportive environment.
* Conduct initial assessments and risk evaluations for students in crisis, ensuring timely interventions.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives, using data to measure impact and identify areas for improvement.
* Liaise with external organisations, mental health professionals, and local healthcare providers to enhance support services.
* Ensure safeguarding policies are fully integrated into wellbeing activities and act as a Safeguarding officer with appropriate training.
* Provide guidance on Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) applications and assist with diagnostic assessments.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and institutional policies.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions in line with GDPR and data protection policies.
* Contribute to processes related to mitigating circumstances, fitness to study, attendance, and special examination arrangements.
* Support staff development by offering advice and training on wellbeing, mental health and inclusivity.
* Contribute to an inclusive environment by reducing barriers to learning and teaching for students with diverse needs.
Required Skills
* Comprehensive knowledge of mental health issues, suicide prevention, and safeguarding practices, including the ability to respond to sensitive and potentially life-threatening situations.
* Familiarity with higher education policies and practices related to student wellbeing.
* Demonstrated experience providing mental health support, ideally in an educational setting.
* Proven ability to manage crises, conduct risk assessments, and create recovery-focused plans, particularly in relation to mental health and suicide prevention.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including students, academic staff, and external agencies.
* Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends across campuses: Holborn, Fitzrovia, Wembley, Kingsbury, and Southall.
Preferred Skills
* Accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCPC) or the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
* Recognised professional certification in mental health counselling or psychotherapy.
* Knowledge of the Office for Students (OfS) regulatory framework and its relevance to student support.
