As a Network Operations Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll support customers all over the world, using the Skynet constellation of satellites. You will also work with internal engineers to aid with network investigations. Finally, preparing technical reports to the rest of the organisation.
Day-to-day, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting the contract to manage and operate Skynet, the UK Ministry of Defence's (MOD) military satellite communications system and ground stations.
* Support customers with satellite acquisition globally.
* Network performance monitoring to ensure maximum efficiency and availability of backbone infrastructure.
* Provide assistance to internal and external agencies in test and repair activities.
* Produce reports to inform the customer and validate network status.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based on site at Hawthorn, Corsham. You will also be required to travel to Colerne and Oakhanger MOD sites.
* Good Internet Protocol (IP) switching and routing skills, to Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) level
* Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general
* Exposure to / familiarity with satellite communications systems
* Knowledge of digital broadcast technologies would be beneficial
Qualifications for the Network Operations Engineer
* Degree or Higher National Certificates (HNCs) / Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don't hold formal qualifications
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
