Job Description
As a function we bring together the day to day commercial & financial running of transport with the strategic options to maximise the value that we bring to our customers and the wider group.
This position will report into the Commercial Manager and is a brilliant opportunity for someone to become part of the finance team!
The role is hybrid, with 3 days a week on site likely. Based at Kingsway, Rochdale.
Up to £57,000 dependent on experience.
How will you contribute?
* Accountable for periodical P&L reporting, balance sheet governance, customer billing & reconciliation.
* Develop budget and flex mechanisms to drive performance and enhance understanding of the operational cost drivers.
* Production of customer reporting packs bringing consistency across the wider team.
* Understanding the key variances and drivers that affect them.
* Be a key point of contact for internal & external audits, championing governance over financial processes and spotting opportunities to improve them.
* Supporting the preparation of budget & forecasting obligations.
* Prepare/Present weekly customer pack with aid of Commercial Manager.
* Challenging the business to identify and improve operational metrics.
* Play an active role in the development of Big Data in decision-making processes and enhancing its use within the business.
What will you bring?
* A fully qualified, or actively studying accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience.
* Understanding of a logistics business desired but not essential.
* Proactive individual with an ability to prioritise workload to tight deadlines.
* Strong Excel skills, and experience working with large data sets are advantageous.
* Sound budgeting and ledger knowledge.
* Experience of questioning and challenging the operation and senior management team on costs.
* Demonstrate drive and a commitment to the continuous improvement of overall contract performance.
* Excellent customer relationship skills with the ability to develop good working relationships at all levels.
