The Opportunity
Prime Workforce, on behalf of BEAR Scotland, is seeking a highly motivated Road Maintenance Supervisor/Technician to join their team. Based in the North-East or South-East regions, this role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the maintenance of Scotland’s road network, ensuring the safety and quality of the infrastructure that millions of people rely on.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise Road Maintenance Activities: Oversee and manage daily road maintenance activities, ensuring that tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with technical specifications.
2. Team Leadership: Supervise a team of technicians and workers, ensuring that they are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated.
3. Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety Standards: Ensure that all road maintenance activities comply with the required safety protocols and industry regulations.
4. Inspect and Assess Road Conditions: Conduct regular inspections of roads, bridges, and structures, identifying areas in need of repair or improvement.
5. Coordinate with Stakeholders: Work closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
6. Manage Resources: Ensure that all necessary tools, equipment, and materials are available and maintained for effective road maintenance operations.
7. Report on Performance: Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and provide regular reports on the progress of ongoing projects.
8. Promote Best Practices: Contribute to the continuous improvement of road maintenance processes and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are upheld.
Your Skills and Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring:
1. Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Road Maintenance or a similar field, or equivalent experience.
2. Experience: Proven experience in road maintenance, including supervising teams and carrying out maintenance tasks on roadways, structures, and infrastructure.
3. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of road maintenance techniques, materials, and equipment.
4. Health and Safety: A solid understanding of health and safety standards and regulations within the road maintenance industry.
5. Leadership Skills: Experience in leading a team, providing direction, support, and training to ensure high standards are met.
6. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
7. Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is essential, as travel between sites may be required.
