Commercial Director, Bulk and Liquid Supply
FWB are pleased to be partnering with an instantly recognisable global spirits manufacturer and brand to recruit their next Commercial Director for Liquid Supply (Bulk Liquids).
The successful Sales / Commercial Director will form part of the Group Commercial Leadership Team and will be responsible for driving the commercial growth and profitability of the company’s bulk whisky and liquid supply division. This individual will lead the sales, trading, and strategic partnerships across global markets, ensuring an optimal balance between short-term revenue generation and long-term value creation in line with the group stock and product development strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Business Development
* Develop and execute a global commercial strategy for bulk whisky, new-make spirit, and matured stock sales.
* Identify and secure new business opportunities with independent bottlers, private-label clients, blenders, and trade partners.
* Strengthen relationships with existing key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and repeat business.
* Negotiate high-value contracts and long-term supply agreements.
* Stay ahead of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting bulk whisky trading.
Trading & Supply Management
* Manage the global trading of whisky stocks, optimising pricing, availability, and inventory turnover.
* Work closely with supply chain and production teams to ensure alignment between sales commitments and stock availability.
* Develop innovative trading models and partnership structures to enhance profitability.
* Set and achieve revenue, margin, and volume targets for the bulk sales division.
* Optimise pricing strategies based on market dynamics and stock valuation.
* Work with finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting, risk management, and cash flow planning.
* Provide regular commercial performance reports to the executive leadership team.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
* Lead and develop a high-performing customer team with deep market expertise.
* Collaborate with production, marketing, and brand teams to align bulk sales with overall business strategy.
* Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and key client meetings.
* Engage with investors, suppliers, and external partners to explore new business avenues.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven track record in commercial leadership roles within whisky or spirits, ideally with existing expertise in Bulk and Liquid Supply.
* Deep understanding of whisky production, maturation, and stock valuation.
* Excellent negotiation, networking, and relationship management skills.
* Financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing P&L.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, global trading environment.
* Experience working with independent bottlers, private label, or secondary market trading.
* Strong international business experience, with exposure to key whisky markets (e.g India, Asian Markets, Australia and Eastern Europe).
