Nutrition and Dietetic Assistant - Band 4 - Oak Lane Clinic, N2 8LT and surrounding area of Barnet
Part Time 3 days/week (22.5hrs)
An opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetic team in Barnet for Central London Community Healthcare in an essential clinical supporting role.
We are looking for a self-motivated Dietetic Assistant who has experience of working in a health or social care setting (hospital or community) to support our specialist paediatric dietitians to deliver a high quality service to children being tube fed, and to children receiving specialist infant formulae or oral nutritional supplements.
Previous experience working in a role that delivers nutrition & hydration or working in a dietetic department and experience of teaching others a new skill is beneficial. You need to have excellent communication, organisational, IT, team working and interpersonal skills.
You will need to be self-motivated, reliable and be able to work on your own initiative. Good numeracy, literacy, written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.

To provide administrative assistance and support across the paediatric nutrition and dietetic service in Barnet including a home enteral feeding dietitian and an appropriate prescribing dietitian.
To will work independently under the supervision of specialist paediatric dietitians to undertake clinical and administrative tasks and be responsible for own delegated workload whilst being flexible to the needs of the service.
To be responsible for inputting clinical activity data into relevant IT system and generating reports as required.
To work within an agreed framework for dealing with routine and urgent clinical problems, face to face or by telephone, seeking guidance from dietitians to agree action outside framework.
To communicate in an effective and timely way with accurate message taking from clients, carers, dietitians and other healthcare professionals with clear record keeping and dissemination of information to relevant staff.
To support dietitians in delivery of training activities, as required.
To participate in clinical governance activities within the Nutrition and Dietetics Service.

To be responsible for undertaking basic clinical duties following agreed protocols such as anthropometry including height, weight and calculating BMI, collecting basic feeding information, sharing and recording information appropriately.
Torecord patient anthropometric measurements and other relevant details using standard recording procedure and adhering to department standards.
To be responsible for liaising with GPs, health visitors, school nurses, children’s community nurses and other professionals to collect relevant information as required.
To communicate with parents/carers and health professionals and disseminate dietetic information as required by paediatric dietitians.
