Location: Wednesfield Technology Primary Hours: 11.00am -2.00pm Monday to Friday (15 hours per week), term time 2 weeks Salary: Band A SCP 2 £22,266 per annum pro rata (actual salary £8,265 per annum) Wednesfield Technology Primary School is part of the Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, providing staff with opportunities to progress both within the school, and across the Trust. We are a growing two form entry Primary school aiming to provide an excellent catering service and the best school dinner experience for our pupils. As an Academy Catering Assistant, you will work under the guidance of a Trust Catering Manager/Academy Business Manager to ensure that the kitchen cleanliness and hygiene is maintained to the required standard. You may also be involved in preparing ingredients and serving of food to pupils and staff. Main Duties: Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic. Washing utensils & dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately. Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients. Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts. Disposing of rubbish. Organising linen laundry. Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas. Assist with the setting up service counters, serving food and cleardown of areas afterwards within the main dining hall area. Ensure the highest possible standards of presentation by ensuring that displays, fixtures, fittings and premises are maintained in accordance with the cleaning schedules. Deal with customer queries or requests in a polite and efficient manner. Maintain standards of safety and hygiene per legislation and other statutory requirements. Report any incidents of accidents, fire, theft, loss or damage and act appropriately. Undertake training as instructed in line with compliance. Carry out any reasonable request from any member of the Management team within the general scope and purpose of the job. Experience in the catering sector is essential for this role: Awareness of safeguarding requirements and good practice within an educational setting is desirable. Experience in HACCP/COSHH monitoring procedures. Experience with food allergies, special diets and labelling. Food service and preparation knowledge and experience. Excellent communication skills. Able to perform well and remain professional whilst under pressure. Dedicated team player. Professional development.
