Job Description We are recruiting for a Production Planner for a global engineering group focused on the precise control and movement of fluids in critical applications. The company's Engineering Division specialises in the design and manufacture of engineer to order highly specialised flow control valves. Hours of Work: 37 hours per week. 8.00am to 4.30pm Mon to Thurs and 8.00am to 1.00pm Friday Location: Poole, Dorset, Site based. Job Summary The Production Planner will form an integral part of the production team. With a strong, solid background in scheduling; the candidate will take a lead approach in scheduling the shop floor ensuring the correct materials are in the right place at the right time. The role is key to the company fulfilling customer orders on time in full. Responsibilities Working as part of a team responsible for production planning, master production scheduling and forecasting activities Control and maintain the fixed period within the Master Schedule in line with materials availability and capacity. Processing of tasks using planning tools e.g. MRP, ERP, Preactor or any other that the company installs to ensure deliveries are met. Creation of Production Works orders and upcoming material requisitions. Monitor progress of items associated with designated order lines to assure material will meet customer delivery requirements. Keep Material Availability Dates on all assigned orders accurate and realistic to ensure proper planning and execution. Update data boards; Obeya, latest view (LV) of sales monitoring works orders. Assess and execute reschedule requests relating to components, assemblies, or entire orders. Identify, record & monitor issues impacting timely / expected progress of order line items and develop alternatives to avoid delays. To create an accurate, up to date lead time for each of the manufacturing processes, together with a system for communicating this to the SOP and sales teams. Work closely with other departments in particular Purchasing, Manufacturing, QA, Sales and Contracts. Requirements Extensive production planning and master scheduling background within an engineering manufacturing environment. Numerate and IT literate with a good working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft packages in order to compile and analyse performance statistics and deliver reports. Demonstrable track record within a production and planning team with strong experience and knowledge MRP/ERP tools and systems. Methodical and organised with a high level of attention to detail. Self-motivated, enthusiastic and target focussed.
