What we’re looking for We’re looking for a Communications Officer. Joining our Communication team, part of our People function, you’ll be part of a small team with a big remit - to deliver brilliant communications across a key range of stakeholders and to protect and promote our corporate reputation. Working with the Head of Communications, you’ll have a broad and varied role but with a particular focus on employee communication and engagement. As a communication specialist, you’ll create great content, guide others on best practice techniques and make sure that the right message hits the right audience every time. Your responsibilities will include Building strong relationships and contacts across the business to allow the identification of employee, business and brand content for onward employee communication. Simplifying and `translating’ this content into appropriate material and delivering it across the business, choosing the best selection of communication channels e.g. Town halls, intranet, videos, e-newsletters, digital screens etc. Managing communication campaigns and channels for specific projects across different business teams, participating in meetings as the subject matter expert and advising teams of the best approach to communication. Effectively `owning’ the communication workstream. Responsible for the content creation and upkeep of our intranet, keeping employees well informed with appropriate information as quickly as possible. Creating engaging social media content and managing the upkeep of sites including Linkedin. Responsible for the development of our corporate website, as well as its content and upkeep, co-ordinating with colleagues to ensure it reflects the business and website best practice. Developing and coordinating employee engagement events e.g. brand launches, Business Roadshows, Meet & Greet sessions. Supporting the Head of Communications with the delivery of the Annual Conference and the Leadership Event and managing small scale events for the business e.g. brand events. Managing the day-to-day relationship with our corporate charity partner and our business-wide Charity Champions, to encourage employee engagement across all sites. Playing a key role in bringing our Health & Wellbeing strategy to life. What you’ll bring… A degree (or equivalent) with at least 2 years’ experience in a communications related role. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written - you’ll notice spelling mistakes and mispronunciations Digital savviness coupled with a willingness and capability to learn about new platforms and systems including our website content management software (Umbraco currently) as well as video and design platforms such as Canva and Vimeo. A flexible communication style that can be adapted to suit any audience. An ability to build and develop great working relationships with a wide range of employees. A drive to continually improve - always striving to find new and better ways. Creativity - you’ll have flair in your written copy and an artistic eye.
