As our Head of NSAG, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Your world of expertise
You will champion, inspire and motivate a team of dedicated 'all source' analysts to provide the 'So-what' of weather, climate and environment for National Security.
Your key duties:
Promote the unique capability of NSAG across His Majesty's Government (HMG), Defence and law enforcement.
Identify and utilise expertise within the Met Office to enhance delivery of NSAG services.
Facilitate and foster innovation within NSAG to achieve the best impact and benefits for National Security.
Maintain and develop the Security Profession within the Met Office as Head of Profession.

As our Head of NSAG, your total reward package will be up to £89,943 annually, which includes:
£64,846 base pay
An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
Keep evolving - Knowledge of frameworks and standards such as: Government Functional Standard Gov 007: Security, UK Government Security Classifications, The role of Information Asset Owners (IAOs) in government. Extensive experience and comprehensive knowledge in Counter Terrorism, Law Enforcement and UK MOD. Demonstrable current or recent experience in a specialist operational role within Defence or UK Government Agency.
Better together - Skilled leader of people, with evidence of putting values and purpose at the heart of your decision making with a proven ability to build and lead effective security operations as well as experience in managing budgets and resources in changing environments. Proven ability in Executive Leadership and management and organisational resilience.
Expert by nature - Experience and ability to demonstrate deep understanding of information security principles and practices. Specialist knowledge of global risk and security management. Must have Developed Vetting (DV) or be able to attain DV clearance on appointment, which will require you to be a UK National and following which there will need to be a successful result.
Force for good - Understanding of how to promote a culture of global environmental security awareness within an organisation and UK Government. Demonstrable ability to influence UK Government and International partners. Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive security policies and standards for UK Government or allied partners.
Live and breathe it - Strong experience of strategic planning and delivery of specialist national and international projects. Experience preparing global security-related papers and presenting to senior boards and committees.
