Purpose of the Role
The Head of Development will play a key role in shaping the future of Elidyr by leading our fundraising efforts and embedding a strong fundraising culture across the organisation. As part of the Leadership Team, you will work closely with the CEO to create and implement a comprehensive Fundraising Strategy that sustains our current services and supports our growth strategy. You will also support the development and implementation of communications to increase engagement with our supporters and ensure that fundraising activities align with the wider goals of the organisation.
This role is primarily remote, but occasional travel to our main location in Rhandirmwyn will be required for key meetings and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
* Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports Elidyr's programmes, goals, and growth.
* Establish clear processes, policies, and systems for fundraising, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices.
* Align fundraising initiatives with the needs of the organisation and priorities of potential funders.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, ensuring successful grant management and compliance.
* Diversify our income streams through corporate partnerships, individual giving, community fundraising, and trusts & foundations.
Grant Writing & Reporting
* Identify and apply for new funding opportunities, including unrestricted and restricted grants.
* Write and submit compelling grant proposals and provide regular funder reports, ensuring all commitments are met and deadlines are adhered to.
* Track and manage our database of supporters, maintaining strong relationships with funders and donors.
Individual Giving Programmes
* Develop and implement an individual giving programme, including regular and one-off donations, legacy pledgers, and community fundraising efforts.
* Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to test new methods for donor acquisition and retention.
Community & Corporate Engagement
* Build relationships with local businesses, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to expand our fundraising opportunities.
* Engage with the community to promote Elidyr and increase awareness of our mission, especially through social media and public outreach.
Collaboration & Strategy Development
* Work closely with the Leadership Team to ensure that fundraising efforts are aligned with the broader strategic objectives of the organisation.
* Contribute to the development of organisational strategy through a deep understanding of the funding landscape and emerging trends in the sector.
Communications
* Ensure that all communications (internal and external) support and align with fundraising activities.
* Help craft engaging narratives that inspire donors, funders, and the wider community to support Elidyrs mission.
General Responsibilities

* Maintain a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD).

* Undertake additional tasks or responsibilities as required, based on organisational needs.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a fundraising leadership role, ideally within the non-profit sector.
* Demonstrable experience in writing successful grant proposals and managing donor relations.
* Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, and best practices.
* Experience in developing and implementing individual giving programmes.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on relationship-building and collaboration.
* Ability to manage budgets, resources, and track performance against KPIs.
* Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote work environment, with occasional travel to Rhandirmwyn as needed.
Time Commitment & Travel
This is a full-time role, primarily remote, with occasional travel required to Rhandirmwyn for in-person meetings, team collaboration, and other key events. We estimate the role will require a minimum of 3-4 days per month on-site. Reasonable travel expenses for trips to Rhandirmwyn will be covered by the organisation.
