2. Work closely with the HVDC Operations Manager and other HVDC/AC stakeholders within the Transmission business (such as Operations Engineers, Project engineers, Subject Matter Experts, Senior Authorised Persons, and external Service Agreement personnel) to assist with the planning and execution of maintenance activities, regular inspections, and fault response/repair of HVDC/FACTS assets.

Assist the HVDC Operations Manager with, and be responsible for aspects of, the creation, maintenance, and execution of critical asset repair plans, obsolescence plans, and spares holding strategies, as well as management of any existing Subsea Cable Asset Surveys associated with Operational HVDC assets and management and technical support of Cyber Security maintenance works on the existing CMS HVDC multi-terminal network and other FACTS assets.
4. Assist the HVDC Operations Manager with, and be responsible for aspects of, the engineering design, install, and commissioning of upgrade and innovation projects for CMS HVDC multi-terminal network (incl. CMS replica MACH system at the National HVDC Centre) and other FACTS assets, as well as supporting the project design development and construction of future HVDC & FACTS projects ensuring that Safety in Design has been considered and that all Operations & Maintenance requirements have been incorporated into the design.
5. You may be asked to undertake other duties, training and/or hours of work by the HVDC Operations Manager, as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility associated with this position. This role requires regular travel to our HVDC & FACTS sites and can occasionally require international travel on an ad hoc basis.
What do I need?
1. Degree qualified or time served with relevant experience in a relevant engineering area.
2. Strong technical understanding of the Distribution and/or Transmission business and the relevant interfaces.
3. Management experience in the delivery of successful operations and maintenance within a similar role/environment and in managing teams in a utility/engineering environment.
4. Experience and understanding of the management of contractors.
5. Ability to communicate across all levels with both internal and external stakeholders, paired with effective organisation capabilities to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.
