Position Summary:
Carboline is seeking a Senior Intumescent Chemist for the Research and Development department joining our team. We are seeking candidates with experience in instumescent or passive fire proofing paints/coatings. This position will report to the Fireproofing Research Director.
The ideal candidate will be located in Coventry, UK or open to reallocate to the Midlands. Other potential locations considered on a case by case basis.

Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare project requests or research proposals on assigned projects.
* Create ideas and develop new intumescent products and conduct investigations. Apply creative approach to problem solving and formulation.
* Execute laboratory projects and continuously assess effectiveness.Develop research findings, draw conclusions, and make recommendations. Prepare and present written or oral reports.
* Contribute to research programs of others through communications and participation in technical work groups and design teams.
* Responsible for meeting project goals within time, quality and budget constraints.Utilize initiative to keep projects on track.
* Coordinate work of others, anticipate, and resolve priority conflicts.
* Acquire and maintain technical expertise in passive fire protection industry and its technologies.
* Communicate and verify technical information directly to various departments, suppliers or customers.
* Colloborate with RPM sister companies on R&D projects.
* Committed to the Company’s safety and quality programs.
Requirements:
* 7+ years experience in R&D laboratory developing intumescent/pasive fire profing products
* Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Science and Technology / Polymer Science
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to customers and colleagues.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and problem-solving ability
* Computer literacy, including spreadsheet, database, word processing and Internet applications
