Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Are you a vet with ambition and drive, looking for progression into a leadership role?
Here at Academy Vets, we have an exciting opportunity available for Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our team on a permanent basis. We are a busy mixed practice in the Southwest of Scotland where the grass is green, and the sun always shines. This is a truly mixed position with no two days the same from dairy fertility, small animal consulting & surgery to health planning, fertility testing and horses, we have it all! Working alongside our current Clinical Director in practice your main focus will be on the small animal clinical work, operating and consulting. Having a special interest in small animal internal medicine, ultrasound imaging, exotics or orthopaedics would also be an advantage.
You will be a key contact in both clinical and non-clinical aspect of running the practice, working alongside the current leadership team which consists of Clinical Director and Practice Manager as well as the Area Director and Area Support Manager to help develop and lead the clinics direction. Assisting in leading a dynamic team, stepping into large animal work when required and out of hours, being the Vet GDP adviser in clinic and to mentor and coach the junior vets in practice.
Our current Clinical Director has a Certificate in Cattle Health and Production and therefore spends more time out on farm, which leaves room for a Clinical Lead to spend time on small animal cases giving more balance in a truly mixed practice. The role is anticipated to be an 80% small animal role with 20% on large animal work with mixed OOH and spring work considered.
