Trainee Installation Engineer Position Overview
My client based in the Bristol are currently looking for an Installation Engineer to join their team. This role would suit someone who has either done shop or window fitting or someone with an engineering or construction based background, however on the job training is provided so candidates with a willingness to learn would be considered also.
Responsibilities include:
1. Visiting both commercial and domestic sites (commercial shopfronts, building sites, retail outlets, designer outlets, offices, hospitals, schools and also domestic houses).
2. Travelling to sites around the UK which requires some early mornings or late finish (flexible hours)
3. Dealing with customers and high-end clients face to face, therefore good communication and customer service skills required (polite, manners etc)
4. Working up ladders (working at height training can be given), a lot of manual handling and heavy lifting (Awning brackets are installed first, then Awnings are lifted up in to position and fixed).
5. Working with power tools and fixings
6. Programming remote control handsets to electrical motors inside Awnings and Blinds
7. Conducting on-site surveys and assessing for new Blinds/Awnings/Canopies
8. Working with dimensions and measurements ACCURATELY is essential (all of our items are bespoke, made to measure, to the millimetre)
9. Carrying out installations of both manual and motorised Retractable Awnings
10. Carrying out installations of Fixed Canopies
11. Delivering and erecting large Parasols
12. Window Film installations in offices (training will be given)
13. Installation of high level interior commercial window Blinds
14. Strapping heavy items on the roof of vans and lifting off
15. Loading vans with goods for installation
16. Occasional factory work to assist with manufacture of goods prior to installation
17. Woodworking required, minor shopfront alterations and reinforcements
18. Occasional painting of woodwork
19. Understanding of logo branding, the process and method
20. Refurbishment of Awnings and Canopies on site
21. Health and safety training will be provided
22. Use of all hand-held power tools essential
23. Awning lifting equipment can be provided
24. Reporting back to office staff frequently on status of installations
25. Working to deadlines
26. Completing necessary survey paperwork for office
Trainee Installation Engineer Position Requirements
27. Experience in a shop/ window fitter, engineering or construction-based role would be desirable
28. Hands on and practical
29. Able to undertake heavy lifting and working up ladders at heights
30. Good communication skills
31. Must be over 25 due to company van insurance policy
32. Full UK driving license
33. Based locally to BS16 due to early starts/ late finishes when required
Trainee Installation Engineer Position Remuneration
34. Training salary of £25,000- £26,000 + overtime and unsociable hour pay
35. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
36. On the job training
37. Salary progression once trained
