Speciality Doctor in Sexual and Reproductive Health

We are seeking a committed and dynamic Specialty Doctor in Sexual and Reproductive Health to join our forward thinking team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 1.0 WTE fixed-term post, with flexibility for less than full-time working, including potential joint working with Women's Health. The role involves delivering high-quality care in our integrated sexual health clinics, including complex contraception, while contributing to teaching, supervision, and clinical governance. You'll play a key role in supporting a diverse patient population and have opportunities for leadership in education and training.
Main duties of the job
* Act as a senior decision-maker in busy, integrated sexual health clinics, managing a wide range of presentations including STIs and contraception, and supporting the multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver and develop contraceptive care services including subdermal implant and intrauterine device (IUD) fitting and removal, with the opportunity to train in complex removals.
* Provide clinical supervision and teaching to junior doctors, nurses, and FSRH trainees, and support the delivery of structured training sessions.
* Contribute to the development of clinical pathways for the service ensuring smooth running within the service and linking effectively with other associated services.
* Contribute to clinical governance activities including audit, quality improvement, and service development to enhance patient care and safety.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical registration
* Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
* Eligible for full registration with General Medical Council (GMC) and holding a licence to practice at the time of the appointment
* 4 years full-time postgraduate experience (or part-time equivalent) in clinical medicine
* 2 years full-time experience across sexual and reproductive health medicine/women's health/general practice
Specialty Specific Clinical Skills
* Experience of working as a senior/expert decision maker in integrated sexual health and contraception clinics, serving diverse populations, and with social and psychological complexity
* Experience of managing cases of safeguarding children and adults
* Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Health (DFSRH)
* Letter of Competence in Subdermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques
* Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques
* STIF Advanced Competency, or demonstration of equivalent knowledge
Teaching and Training
* Extensive experience of teaching in different settings, with individuals and groups.
* Ability to act as role model, educator, supervisor, coach or mentor for medical and non-medical colleagues
