Mechanical Design Engineer\n\nNottingham, NG3\n Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)\n 26 Days + Bank Holidays\n\nThe Company:\n\nOur client is a privately owned engineering firm known for designing and building bespoke Special Purpose Machinery, the company serves a diverse range of industries, including White Goods, Automotive, Pharmaceutical, and Materials Handling.\n\nThey take pride in offering tailored engineering solutions, handling everything from conveyors and robotics to highly specialised jigs and fixtures. The team thrives on variety and challenge, with projects continually shifting across sectors.\n\nThe Role:\n\nAs a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll become a vital part of a close-knit engineering division, working on complex mechanical systems from concept through to installation.\n\nYou will:\n\nManage multiple projects simultaneously\nProduce concept and detailed production designs using SolidWorks\nGenerate all necessary technical documentation: manufacturing drawings, certification input, user manuals, FAT/SAT procedures\nDesign components such as jigs, fixtures, moving mechanisms, and assemblies\nGet hands-on with prototype build, testing, and assembly on the shop floor\nAttend client meetings and site visits to understand requirements and ensure successful project delivery\nWork closely with software and electrical teams for integrated SPM builds\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\nWe’re seeking someone with the confidence and technical creativity to deliver turnkey design solutions. You’ll be someone who’s not afraid to ask questions, who enjoys variety, and who can hold both technical and casual conversations with colleagues and clients.\n\nStrong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred, but others considered)\nExperience designing mechanical systems and machinery\nHNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field\nUK driver’s license and willingness to travel for client visits\n\nExperience with SPM\nFEA analysis using SolidWorks Simulation (or equivalent)\nConfident handling projects cradle-to-grave\nThe Package:\n\nCompetitive Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)\nAnnual profit related bonus’s\nHolidays: 26 Days + Bank Holidays\nAbility to earn up to 3 additional holiday days\nHalf day on a Friday\n\nOffice-based role, however flexible working can be offered\nPaid overtime\nCompany Pension\n\nOn-the-job training with potential for external courses\nHow to Apply:\n\nIf you are a motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to join a growing company, we want to hear from you!\n\nPlease send your CV to Matt Taylor at or give me a call on (phone number removed)\n\nATA is committed to creating a diverse workforce and is an equal opportunities employer.
