The Building Services Engineer is key in providing a design engineering service. The Building Services Engineer is responsible for the production of discipline specific design and engineering deliverables to support the project.
Main purpose of the role:
The Engineer is principally a hands-on design-based role with a degree of team leadership. The Engineer is responsible for delivering a package of work within a project within their discipline. Frequent liaison with other disciplines in the design team and the client would be expected. The engineers are the main interface between senior management and hands-on design.
Key Accountabilities
* Development of designs to satisfy the technical specification,
* Production of design deliverables throughout the design process,
* Checking of basic design calculations,
* Contribution to design reviews and safety reviews,
* Preparation of technical specifications,
* Preparation of installation, commissioning, and operating documents,
* Ensuring quality and timely delivery of design documentation throughout all phases of the design process,
* Compliance with safety and statutory regulations,
* Develop cost effective technical solutions,
* Provide support during Site surveys, installation and commissioning.
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
* HNC (minimum) in a relevant technical / engineering discipline or demonstrable experience,
* Associate membership of a discipline specific engineering institution.
Duties and Requirements
Essential
* Knowledge of the fundamentals within your engineering discipline,
* Previous experience in the design of Building Services (inc: Ventilation and piped services),
* Good understanding of safety legislation and statutory regulations,
* Strong organisational and interpersonal skills,
* Commercial awareness,
* Knowledge and experience of design software (Typically AutoCAD or similar).
Desirable
* Degree Qualified in a relevant technical/engineering discipline,
* Experience in the nuclear industry,
* Management of design teams in the technical delivery of projects,
* Management of sub-contractors,
* Knowledge and use of REVIT software,
* Knowledge and use of IESVE design software,
* Construction Site experience.
