Property Surveyor Part-time (3 days a week) Cardiff based
We are looking for a general practice Chartered Surveyor to provide property support and advice to the Welsh Government and NHS Health Boards and Trusts in Wales. You will be part of a team of General Practice Surveyors dealing primarily with the disposal and acquisition of land and property and lease management arrangements. You will also provide a broad range of general practice surveying services to both the Welsh Government and NHS organisations in Wales.
This is a part-time (3 days a week) role. We currently operate a hybrid agile model of working.
Main duties of the job
The Property Surveyor will use highly developed knowledge and experience to provide expert estates and property advice, guidance and support to NHS Wales organisations and the Welsh Government.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Property Surveyor will manage and undertake a wide range of property and estates work throughout NHS Wales, including acquisitions & disposals, commercial lease management (landlord and tenant negotiations), property management issues and other professional estates-related tasks. The Property section is the only professionally qualified source of advice for these areas of work within NHS Wales. The Property Surveyor will support the Head of Property and the property team in ensuring that a range of expert property advice and services are available.
Person specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Chartered Surveyor and a corporate member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors OR have specialist estates/property knowledge and understanding gained through qualification, training and experience equivalent to Masters level.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Experience
* Relevant post-qualification experience of working in a property/estates environment (including provision of valuation advice, rent reviews, development projects, disposals & acquisitions and commercial lease management).
* Experience of working for the NHS or in the public sector.
* Experience of property acquisition & disposal processes and landlord & tenant arrangements.
Skills and Attributes
* The ability to interpret complex property issues and be able to give advice on these issues to non-technical personnel.
* Be able to work effectively as part of a team with a collaborative and consistent approach.
* IT skills and computer literate to include the ability to learn new IT and technology when introduced.
* Good communication and presentational skills, both orally and written.
* An understanding of the NHS environment and NHS estate planning and rationalisation.
* Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
