Job Description
The Culture Trust, Luton’s Museum Curator will work across our museum and heritage sites to engage audiences through collections and stories. You will lead collections development and research, enabling access for a broad range of communities. You will provide expert advice and support, including working on our NPO programme at Wardown House, Museum and Gallery. And you will manage the development of our permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, and outreach, helping us celebrate the centenary of the collection in 2027.
Working alongside the Head of Museums, Collections and Heritage, your experience will directly impact our practice, bringing a collaborative, participatory approach to curation. You will work closely on the development of new policies and strategy which underpin our work.
The Culture Trust looks after the museum collection on behalf of Luton Borough Council. These encompass; the Hat Industry and Headwear Collection, covering over 400 years of hat-making in Luton; the Mossman Collection of horse drawn carriages; rare and unique medieval history, including the Wenlock Jug; plus, natural history, archaeology, costume, rural crafts, and fine art from Luton and the surrounding areas.

Job Requirements
You will need to possess demonstrable experience of collections development and research, engagement with a wide range of audiences, and interpretation and display.
You will need to have effective communication skills, able to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders, and prioritise multiple demands.
We would expect you to have academic or curatorial knowledge within at least one thematic area of the museum collection, plus knowledge of museum Collections Management Systems.
