Newly Qualified Salaried GP - ARRS (Urgent Care)

Following the release of ARRS funding for GPs, Barrow Together PCN is looking to expand our team by seeking to employ 2 newly qualified General Practitioners (Urgent Care) (you must be within 2 years of certificate of completion of training at the start of employment and not have previously held a substantive post).
The role will be to help support and deliver our Urgent Care service. As part of an agreed job plan, each GP will work across 4 of the 8 practices that make up Barrow Together PCN, taking a hands-on role to provide acutely unwell patients with further assessment and treatment.
Main Duties of the Job
As agreed in co-operative practice with colleagues, the post-holder will undertake a variety of duties including:
1. Surgery consultations, telephone, and video consultations
2. Visiting patients at home
3. On Call duties
4. Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
5. Dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion
6. Managing workflow and pathology reports
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Making professional, autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems
2. Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
3. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
4. Engaging with activities such as QOF, LES/DES, and other essential work for providing a full service for patients
5. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients
6. Providing counselling and health education
7. Admitting or discharging patients and referring to other care providers as appropriate
8. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes
9. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
10. Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Person Specification
Experience
* Newly Qualified General Practitioner (under 2 years from qualification at start of contract)
* Experience of providing primary care
* Experience of audit and improving care for patients
* Development of areas of clinical expertise
* Experience of working in primary care in an area with significant health problems
Knowledge
* General understanding of the primary care contract
* Understanding the role of medical services in a wider public health agenda
* Knowledge of the demographic characteristics that affect health and health care in the area
* Understanding current NHS policies
Qualifications
* General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT) - within less than 2 years at start of employment
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree
* Certification of Completion of Training
* Currently on the Performers List and not suspended
* A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner register and not subject to suspension
* DBS clearance
* Familiar with EMIS web
